Captain (retired) Ernest Goldfinch Rason, R.N. (27 July, 1851 – 27 July, 1915) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Rason was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1875.

Rason was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1890.

By 1895, it was reported that Rason spoke Russian "very well".

Rason was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 16 August, 1898.

Rason returned to service on 16 November, 1914 for work with the North Irish Coast Guard District under Captain Barton. He was superseded on 8 March, 1915 and a medical report indicated he would likely be unable to resume work. He died in July.
