Commander R.N.R. Ernest Albert John Webb Carter, R.D., R.N.R. (20 August, 1884 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Carter served in the armoured cruiser Shannon from 1 July 1914 until 8 April, 1915.[1]

Carter was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 11 September, 1915.[2]

Carter was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 99 on 15 February, 1918.[3]

Carter was considered to blame in a minor degree in the inadvertant destruction of a confidential document.[4]

Carter was cautioned in 1918 after T.B. 99 sank a fishing boat. He was demobilised on 14 February, 1919.[5]

Carter was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 11 September, 1923.[6]

Carter was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 30 June, 1929.[7]

In 1948, Carter reported he was fit for shore service only, being fit but deaf in one ear.

He requested that his name be removed from the Retired List on 16 June, 1952.[8]
