Captain (retired) Edward Duke Hunt, (11 February, 1857 – 6 May, 1931) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Hunt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 10 August, 1881.

On 16 February, 1891 Hunt was appointed to Ringarooma as first lieutenant. She paid off on 8 May 1894.

On 17 April, 1895, Hunt was appointed in command of the gunboat Widgeon.

On 2 January 1896, the Admiralty expressed its displeasure at the lack of care in connection with an explosion of a gun.

On 2 May 1897, Hunt was invalided, having suffered a gunshot wound to the chest while participating in the Benin Expedition. Hunt was specially promoted to the rank of Commander on 25 May, 1897 in light of his service in Benin. On 5 July, he was granted a gratuity of six months' pay in compensation for his wound.

Hunt was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Captain on 11 February, 1907.
