Commander (retired) Edward Douglas Wyndham Lawford, D.S.O., R.N. (20 February, 1887 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Lawford apparently did not enter the navy via Britannia. His first appointment is noted as being in Archer from 1 October, 1912. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant (supplementary) on 1 April, 1913 and made first officer in October 1913, staying with Archer until she reduced on 4 March, 1915.

Lawford was placed on the Retired List as unfit on 30 July, 1919. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 1 April, 1921.

Lawford was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 26 February, 1929.

World War II

Lawford received a D.S.O. for taking a convoy to Northern Russia in the face of relentless submarine and air attack.
