Admiral Edmund Hyde Smith, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (21 June, 1865 – 13 July, 1939) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Hyde Smith was promoted to the rank of Commander on 22 June, 1897.[1]

Great War

Hyde Smith was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1904.[2]

On 29 June, 1915, Hyde Smith was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral, vice Bridson.[3] On 21 September, he was appointed Senior Officer at Sheerness in charge of Naval Establishments.[4] He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 2 November, 1919, vice Grant, and placed on the Retired List on 3 November.[5]

Retirement

He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 1 August, 1924.[6]
