Captain Desmond Nevill Cooper Tufnell, D.S.C., R.N. (15 November, 1892 – 24 April, 1965) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Captain W. N. Tufnell of the East Surrey Regiment.

Tufnell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1915.[1]

Tufnell was appointed in command of the destroyer Ferret on 24 September, 1918.[2]

Tufnell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1923.[3]

Tufnell was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1928.[4]

Tufnell was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1936.[5]

World War II

On 5 July, 1945, he was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to King George VI, vice Bridge.[6]

Tufnell retired on 2 January, 1946 and reverted to it (somehow) on 1 April, 1946.[7]
