Deflection Corrector Gear, sometimes called Deflection Correction Link Gear was a British mechanism constructed to convert Dumaresq Deflection into a component of a usable Gun Deflection at a given Gun Range.

Design and First Use

The device took Gun Range and Dumaresq (or Wind Dumaresq) deflection and output a deflection corrected for use at the given gun range, employing a mechanical multiplier. Reversible range scale strips permitted reduced charge firing and sub-caliber firings to be handled properly.

The first Dreyer Table to have one was that in H.M.S. Ramillies, with it probably being fitted in 1917 or 1918. The action was to have the dumaresq deflection corrected for range applied directly to its Deflection Totaliser or a similar mechanism.

The success of the installation in Ramillies prompted the decision to add it to all Mark III* and the Mark V Dreyer tables, commencing from perhaps late 1918.
