Admiral Crawford Maclachlan, C.B., Retired (11 July, 1867 – 21 April, 1952) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Maclachlan was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1890.[1]

Maclachlan's Commander in the Prince George, Sydney Fremantle, later described him as, "a hard-bitten little Scotsman, who was an accomplished seaman, most thorough in his methods, and had a quiet but forceful habit of command which inspired great confidence."[2]

Maclachlan was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1908.[3]

He was appointed command of the battleship King Edward VII on 22 June, 1914.[4]

Great War

On the occasion of the King's birthday he was appointed an Additional Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 3 June, 1918.[5]

Post-War

Maclachlan was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 17 February, 1920, vice Hickley.[6]

Maclachlan was promoted to the the rank of Vice-Admiral on 1 July, 1925, vice Nicholson.[7]

He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 1 April, 1930.[8]
