The Controller was a member of the Board of Admiralty from 1917 to 1918 responsible for production. The position was created for Sir Eric Geddes, who was succeeded by Sir Alan Anderson. A war-time expedient, the office of Controller was merged with that of Third Sea Lord in November, 1918.
