Colpoys Cleland Walcott

Captain (retired) Colpoys Cleland Walcott, C.B.E., R.N. (31 July, 1878 – 29 April, 1961) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Maidenhead, the son of L. R. S. Walcott, Esq..

Walcott was specially promoted to the rank of Lieutenant for his services in China, with seniority of 9 November, 1900. He proved himself good at gymnastics.

Noted by Commodore Eustace as a "splendid organiser" and "one of the very best officers I have met in the service", Walcott was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1912.

Walcott was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 21 February, 1914.

Walcott was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) in recognition of wartime service, dated 11 November, 1918.
