Lieutenant Clive Charles Henry Maitland-Addison, R.N. (15 October, 1879 – 26 October, 1911) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Brighton, the son of Major Alfred Maitland-Addison.
Maitland-Addison gained seven months' time on passing out of Britannia in mid-January, 1896. He served on year in Resolution in the Channel Squadron before being sent to spend two years in Centurion on the China Station. He spent much of 1899 in Champion and Minerva.
Maitland-Addison completed a year in the light cruiser Aurora on the China Station before being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1901. He served in Sutlej from May 1902 until she paid off on 27 November, 1903. He then was appointed to Berwick in the Cruiser Squadron from 9 December, 1903 until 13 March, 1906, when he was appointed as first officer in the scout cruiser Attentive.
On 14 April, 1909 while in his first command appointment in T.B. 17, Maitland-Addison took ill and was sent to Chatham Hospital. He was discharged on 4 May and returned to the torpedo boat. After leaving the ship in October 1909, he held command of a series of destroyers, ending with command of Boyne, which ended on 15 August, 1911. He was appointed in command of the gunboat Kinsha on the China Station, but died of pneumonia and heart failure aged just thirty-two years shortly thereafter.
