Captain (retired) Clement Loftus Long, R.N. (29 December, 1880 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Bramfield, Hertford, Long gained twelve months' time on passing out of Britannia.

Long was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1900.

Appoined as gunnery officer in Russell from 21 April 1906, Long deeply impressed Captain Robert S. Lowry who wrote he was "one of the best & most zealous officers I have ever met."

Long was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 July, 1908.

Long was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 6 February, 1913.

Long was appointed in command of the destroyer Petard on 14 August, 1918.[1]

Post-War

Long was promoted to the rank of Commander on 11 November, 1918.

Long was promoted to the rank of Captain on 21 November, 1928.

World War II

Reverted 3 August, 1946.
