Captain (retired) Claude William Manners Plenderleath (7 December, 1863 – 25 September, 1951) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Plenderleath was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 7 December, 1884.[1]

Plenderleath was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1898.[2]

He was appointed to the armoured cruiser Narcissus on 17 July, 1901. It is not clear if he was in command. He was appointed in command of the sloop Mutine on 28 November, and after completing steam trials in the North Sea on 7 December,[3] left Sheerness on 11 December 1901 to relieve Redpole on the China Station.[4]

Plenderleath was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 1 August, 1910.[5]

He would be called back to serve in the Great War, being made Assistant Inspector of Steel at Sheffield from 17 May 1916 to 2 March, 1918.[6]
