Life & Career
Brandon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1895.
Brandon served as navigator in Diadem in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1903 until 29 February, 1904, and took photos of Japanese warships Template:JP-Mikasa and Template:JP-Asahi with visible battle damage after they'd participated in the Battle of the Yellow Sea. He navigated for Andromeda on the China Station from 1 March 1904 until being appointed to Sutlej as first and navigating officer on 6 March, 1905.
After Sutlej paid off on 14 May 1906, Brandon was sent to Royal Oak as navigator from 17 July 1905.
Brandon served next as navigating officer in Victorious from New Year's Day 1907, being promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1907.
He was appointed to H.M.S. Queen as navigating officer from 15 December, 1908. He left Queen to take his last sea-going appointment before retirement, as navigating officer of the battlecruiser Inflexible from 6 April to 1 September, 1910.
Brandon was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain on 1 September, 1910.
Great War
Brandon worked at shore appointments through most of the war, helping fit out convoy sloops at one point. However, he did spend the last year of the war in command of the convoy sloop Sweetbriar.
Brandon offered his services in 1938, but there is no indication he re-entered the Navy.
