Commander (retired) Charles Wilbraham John Howard, R.N. (10 March, 1880 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of retired Captain John Henry Howard, R.N. was born in Teynham in 1880.

Howard was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1901.

Howard contributed to good torpedo firing in Orwell in 1909 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1909.

Howard was appointed in command of the destroyer Swale on 24 August, 1910.[1]

Placed on the Retired List at his own request on 15 April, 1911.

Howard was granted the acting rank of Commander (retired) on 5 August, 1917.

Reverted to the Retired List on 14 February, 1919. On 7 March, 1919 Howard was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) in recognition of wartime services, dated 11 November, 1918.

World War II

Invalided home from Chile on 30 January, 1940. Reverted to Retired List on 1 April, 1940.
