Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. Charles Herbert Oxlade, R.D. (16 April, 1876 – 16 December, 1917) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Oxlade was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 12 February, 1904.[1]

Oxlade was appointed to the armed merchant cruiser Patia and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 28 November, 1914.[2]

Oxlade commanded the yacht Boadicea II from 19 May 1915 to 12 October, 1917. He was then placed in command of the convoy sloop H.M.S. Arbutus, and died when she was torpedoed by UB 65 in St. George's Channel. The Admiralty appreciated his gallant conduct in the event.
