Captain Charles Henry Umfreville, R.N. (30 November, 1861 – 14 February, 1913) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Calcutta.

Umfreville was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1884.

Umfreville was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1897.

Umfreville was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1903.

Umfreville was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Niobe in January, 1906. On 6 November 1906, Umfreville was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Diadem. He was superseded on 17 April, 1907.

Having wrestled with tuberluosis, Umfreville was placed on the Retired List as unfit on 30 November, 1908. He died at Sheringham, Norfolk.
