Admiral SIR Charles George Fane, K.C.B., J.P., Royal Navy (14 November, 1837 – 22 February, 1909) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Fane was promoted to the rank of Commander on 16 October, 1868.[1]

Fane was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to Queen Victoria on 6 January, 1888, vice Hotham.[2] He was appointed Captain Superintendent of Sheerness Dockyard on 1 June.[3]

Fane was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 5 August, 1890, vice Rowley.[4]

He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral dated 9 November, 1896, vice Hopkins.[5]

On the occasion of the King Edward VII's birthday Fane was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Second Class, or Knight Commander, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 9 November, 1901.[6]

Fane was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 24 January, 1902, vice Tracey.[7] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 22 February, 1870, he was placed on the Retired List at his own request the following day.[8]
