I was unable to find an article in The Times detailing the intake examinations for this term.

A search of men who entered the navy in "January 1869" or "23 January 1869" in ADM 196/19 resulted in the following entries.[1]

I added in Arthur William Carter, Robert Lascelles Gambier Noel as their Service Records clearly indicate they were in this term.

From September 1903 entries were also made to the Royal Naval College, Osborne under the Selborne Scheme. The Britannia was closed in July 1905 after the May entry, which was sent to Bermuda with the January entry. The following two terms under the old scheme were sent straight to the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth.
