Arthur Vyell Vyvyan

Air Vice Marshal Arthur Vyell Vyvyan, C.B., D.S.O., R.N., R.A.F. (12 March, 1875 – 30 September, 1935) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.

Life & Career

Vyvyan was promoted to Lieutenant on 14 January, 1896.

Vyvyan was promoted to Commander on 30 June, 1906.

Vyvyan was promoted to Captain on 30 June, 1913.

He served as Assistant to the Chief of the Staff while working with the Admiralty War Staff from January, 1913 until October, 1914 when he was appointed in command of the light cruiser Cordelia.

He assumed command of the first class protected cruiser Endymion in June 1915.

on 1 April 1918, Vyvyan was appointed in command of Air Force Units in the Mediterranean as Brigadier General on the Staff of the Commander-in-Chief.

He ultimately became an Air Vice Marshal with a permanent commission on 1 August, 1919.
