Captain (retired) Arthur Henry Durrant Field, (15 January, 1882 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of a brewer.
Field entered the Royal Navy with the January, 1897 intake term at H.M.S. Britannia, passing in 46th in order of merit with 1245 marks in the competitive entrance examinations.[1]
Field was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 March, 1904.
Field was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 March, 1912. On 30 September 1913, he was appointed to the dreadnought Temeraire as torpedo officer. He would serve in her through the Battle of Jutland. Field was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1916.
Field left Temeraire in February, 1918 when he was appointed to H.M.S. Vernon for the Portland Mining School.
Field was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 15 January, 1928.
