Arthur Erskine Gurney Coombs

Lieutenant Arthur Erskine Gurney Coombs, R.N. (3 February, 1888 – 15 October, 1914) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Kensington, the son of R. S. G. Coombs, Esq..[1]

Coombs was promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 30 July, 1907.[2]

Coombs was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in April, 1909.[3]

Coombs was appointed to the first class protected cruiser Hawke for navigating duties on 19 February 1914 and died when she was torpedoed and lost on 15 October.[4]
