Captain (retired) Arthur Edgar Buckland, D.S.O., D.S.C., C.B.E. (4 August, 1890 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Buckland entered the Navy as it was transitioning to the new training scheme for cadets and was sent directly to the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth as part of the September 1905 intake term.

Buckland was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1911.

Appointed in command of the paddle sweeper Jupiter II on 29 March, 1916.

Buckland was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1919.

Buckland was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1925.

Buckland was promoted to the rank of Acting Captain on 5 February, 1937.

World War II

Buckland was placed on the Retired List on account of age with the rank of Captain (retired) on 4 August, 1940.
