Rear-Admiral Arthur Cloudesly Shovel Hughes D'Aeth, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (5 June, 1875 – 23 August, 1956) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Hughes-D'Aeth was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1896.[1]

Great War

On 15 September 1916 he was appointed an Additional Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) dated 31 May.[2]

He was appointed to command the armoured cruiser Minotaur in December 1915,[3] staying there until given command of the Dreadnought on 1 December, 1916.[4]

He was appointed in command of the armoured cruiser Shannon on 7 February, 1918.[5]

Postwar

He was appointed Captain of the Portsmouth Navigation School on 1 February, 1919.[6]
