Vice-Admiral THE HONOURABLE Arthur Brandreth Scott Dutton, C.B., C.M.G., Royal Navy (11 September, 1876 – 29 September, 1932) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Simla, in the Himalayas, Dutton was the son of a Lieutenant Colonel.[1]

Dutton was promoted to Lieutenant on 39 September, 1898.[2]

Dutton was promoted to Commander on 30 June, 1910.[3]

While a Commander, Dutton was appointed in command of the Acheron class destroyer Beaver in the First Destroyer Flotilla on 17 March, 1913.[4]

On 12 February, 1914, Dutton married Doriel Hay in Parish Church, Brompton.[5]

Dutton was appointed in command of the destroyer Lookout on 9 August, 1914.[6]

Dutton was promoted to Captain on 31 December, 1915.[7]

In April 1916, Dutton assumed command of the scout cruiser Bellona.

Dutton was appointed in command of light cruiser Champion in November, 1917,[8] becoming Captain (D) of Thirteenth Destroyer Flotilla.

Post-War

He was appointed captain of Marlborough in February 1925, remaining with her through at least the end of the year.

Dutton was promoted to Rear-Admiral on 9 November, 1926.[9]

Dutton was promoted to Vice-Admiral on 20 April, 1931 and placed on the Retired List the following day.[10]
