Commander (retired) Archibald Thomas Stewart, O.B.E., R.N. (10 January, 1876 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Stewart was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1898.

In July 1906, Stewart passed a preliminary examination in French. Stewart completed a command appointment in Quail and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1906. He commanded Thrasher for six months and took a short course in signals at Portsmouth before July 1907 when he travelled to France for four months additional study. He would pass for an acting Interpreter in the language in January, 1908 with 753 of 1,000 marks.

Stewart was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Commander on 23 October, 1920.

World War II

Reverted to the Retired List on 26 January, 1947.
