Archibald Cornelius

Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. Archibald Cornelius, R.N.R. ( – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve after serving as a corporal in the New Zealand Force.[1]

Life & Career

Cornelius's first service was in Europa, additional, for duty with the P.N.T.O., Mudros.[2]

Cornelius was promoted to the temporary rank of Sub-Lieutenant R.N.R. on 10 July, 1915. On 1 August, he was admitted to No 15 General Hospital [illeg] for a doubtful case of enteric fever. This did, indeed prove to be enteric fever and he was sent to Haslar Hospital. It would not be until 21 December 1915 that he was able to receive training in paddle minesweeping at H.M.S. Actæon.[3]

He was appointed on 14 November 1916 for Snowden in command.

Cornelius was promoted to the temporary rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 4 May, 1917.[4]
