Captain (retired) Archibald Anthony Lovett-Cameron, R.N. (6 June, 1883 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Reverend C. Lovett-Cameron was born in Barrie.

Lovett-Cameron was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1904.

Appointed as torpedo officer in the heavy cruiser Suffolk on 3 May, 1910.

Lovett-Cameron was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1912. In June, he proposed lowering and traversing gear for rapid loading of torpedoes.

Lovett-Cameron left Suffolk when he was appointed to the new battlecruiser New Zealand as torpedo officer in September 1912. He would serve in her until March, 1917, being promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1916 after participating in the Battle of Jutland.

Lovett-Cameron worked from March to November 1917 in a temporary appointment assisting Commander John R. Middleton on the Board of Invention and Research.

Post-War

Lovett-Cameron was appointed in command of the destroyer Winchester in January, 1920.[1]

Lovett-Cameron was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain on 6 June, 1929.

On 16 February, 1942, he was superseded as Naval Officer in Charge, Newhaven, by Everard John Hardman-Jones.[2]
