Rear-Admiral Alfred Hugh Taylor, C.B., O.B.E., R.N. (24 October, 1886 – 16 August, 1972) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Norfolk.

Taylor was promoted to the rank of 15 May, 1906.[1]

Taylor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1914.[2]

Taylor was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1917.[3]

Taylor was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1924.[4]

Taylor commanded Valiant from August 1934 until December 1935. His tenure was marred by a collision with S.S. Eisenach on 30 August, 1935, for which Taylor incurred the Admiralty's displeasure.[5]

Taylor was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 4 January, 1936 and placed on the Retired List the following day.[6]

World War II

Reverted to Retired List on 11 September, 1945.[7]
