Commander Alfred Bell Humphery, (8 October, 1876 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Cambridge.[1]

Humphery was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1899.[2]

In August 1905, Humphery was removed from his one ship command on account of "slackness of discipline." He was sent to Vernon for a short course in Gunnery and Torpedoes.[3]

Humphery was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1907. He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 3 December, 1907.[4]

Humphery was promoted to the rank of Commander on 8 October, 1916.[5]

During the Great War, Humphery worked at Royal Naval Barracks, Portsmouth until February, 1917 and then in the Shipping Intelligence Division. He reverted to the Retired List on 30 June, 1919.[6]
