Lieutenant-Commander (retired) Alexander Greening, R.N. (30 December, 1851 – 30 July, 1916) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Greening was promoted to the rank of Acting Gunner on 6 May, 1879.

Greening was promoted to the rank of Chief Gunner on 1 August, 1899.

Greening was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1903.

Greening was placed on the Retired List on account of age on 30 December, 1906.

Greening was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 1 April, 1911.

In February, 1915, Greening was sent to Sheerness to provide shore services to contribute to anti-aircraft defenses. On 26 May 1915, he was appointed in command of the gunboat Bloodhound.
