Alexander Francis Matheson

Commander Alexander Francis Matheson, (6 February, 1905 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Matheson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 June, 1927.[1]

Matheson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 June, 1935.[2]

Matheson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1941. His naval career would be notable for his command of battleship Nelson from August to November of 1944 as she underwent repairs of mine damage at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.[3]

Twice mentioned in despatches in 1943-44, Matheson retired on 2 March, 1949.[4]
