Captain Alan James Mackenzie-Grieve, R.N. (11 February, 1877 – 27 May, 1935) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Edinburgh, the son of Commander F. G. Grieve, Alan gained ten months' time on passing out of Britannia in July, 1893.

Mackenzie-Grieve was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in October, 1899.

Mackenzie-Grieve was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1913.

Mackenzie-Grieve was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1918.

Mackenzie-Grieve was appointed in command of the light cruiser Birmingham on 13 January, 1919.[1]

He was appointed in command of the aircraft carrier Vindictive on 13 October, 1920.[2]

Mackenzie-Grieve was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 9 June, 1922.
