The Beobachtungs-und Entzifferungs-Dienst (Observation and Cryptanalyst Service) was the Kaiserliche Marine's wireless listening and codebreaking service during the First World War. It was set up under Martin Braune in 1916, and was headquartered at Beobachtungs-und Entzifferungs-Haupstelle at Neumünster. Everntually the service had five hundred officers, a large staff and oversaw twenty-four listening posts on the North Sea coast.
