Captain (retired) Edward Thomas Needham, R.N. (6 January, 1847 – 9 January, 1916) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

On 31 July 1868 while serving in Defence, Needham was severely reprimanded for neglect of duty and improper conduct to Captain and warned as to his future conduct. He was to be reported on in three months.

Needham was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 4 April, 1870.

Needham was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1885.

Needham was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Captain on 6 January, 1897.

Needham committed suicide by ingesting carbolic acid during a fit of temporary insanity.
