George Robert Irving Irving
Commander George Robert Irving Irving, (7 October, 1895 – ) served in the Royal Navy. Prior to a Royal Licence issued in 1927, he was George Robert Irving Snow Irving.
Life & Career
The son of Alexander D. Snow, an officer in Special Reserve.[1]
Irving served in Dreadnought from 15 May 1913 through 1 March, 1917.[2]
Irving was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 June, 1917.[3]
Irving was promoted to the rank of Flight Lieutenant on 4 May, 1917.[4]
In 1922, he was found using notes during an examination following a short gunnery course. He lost all marks and incurred the displeasure of Their Lordships.[5]
Irving was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 June, 1925.[6]
World War II
Irving was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Commander on 7 October, 1940.[7]
