Lieutenant-Commander Rupert Clare Garsia, R.N. (9 October, 1887 – ) served in the Royal Navy. He later became a Commander in the Royal Australian Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Christchurch, New Zealand the son of Captain C. Garsia.

Garsia was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1910.

Transferred to Emergency List on 15 January, 1914. On 25 September, 1914, a letter from the Navy officer, Melbourne stated that Garsia had entered service with the Royal Australian Navy for the war. He was ordered to return home when convenient, but convenience seemed elusive, as there is no indication he returned. He may have been made a Lieutenant in the R.A.N., but it is not clear.

Garsia was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1918.

In 1931, he was confirmed to be serving as a Commander in the R.A.N., and his name was removed from the Emergency List of the Royal Navy.
