Captain (retired) Leslie Jennings Lucas Hammond, C.B.E., R.N. (15 October, 1877 – 18 December, 1943) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Reverend J. Hammond was born in Pontefract.[1]

Hammond was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in March 1899.[2]

Hammond was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in March 1907. His last appointment to a ship was as gunnery officer in Duke of Edinburgh, ending in January, 1908. He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 15 January, 1912 and began a long stint of roles in shore-based inspectional roles.[3]

Hammond was promoted to the rank of Commander in October 1917.[4]

Hammond was promoted to the rank of Captain on 21 November, 1929.[5]
