Commander R.N.R. (retired) Allan Varian, R.D. (22 March, 1881 – 16 June, 1945) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Varian was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 15 March, 1912.[1]

Early in the war, he served in Lively and Psyche.[2]

In 1918, he suffered an adverse report in the grounding of the destroyer Zephyr.[3]

Varian was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 29 March, 1920.[4]

Varian was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 22 May, 1922.[5]
