Commander R.N.R. Sidney Reginald Lane, R.N.R. (15 January, 1874 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve. His first name was sometimes offered as "Sydney".
Life & Career
Commanded Evening Star from 22 June 1915 to 28 June, 1916.
Lane was appointed in command of the hired H.M. yacht Kethailes on 28 June, 1916, and survived her loss to a collision with S.S. Leicestershire in St. George's channel on 11 October, 1917. Two officers and fifteen others were killed. Nine of the eleven survivors were rescued by the patrol boat H.M.S. P 44.[1]
Lane was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 31 December, 1918.
Demobilized in June 1919.
