Jump to navigationJump to searchLieutenant-Commander (retired) Frederick Lewis Coplestone, (12 September, 1882 – 11 November, 1914) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Coplestone was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1904.
Coplestone was appointed to Thames for command of submarines on 1 February, 1905 but was retired as unfit on 4 October, 1906.
Coplestone was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1912.
On 15 July 1913, he was found unfit for the Air Service, owing to defective hearing.
Coplestone was appointed to D 2 on 4 August, 1914 and died when she was lost off the German coast on 11 November. His death was understood only to have occurred between 25 November and 1 December, 1914, but the latter date was selected as the official one.
