William Hannam Henderson
Admiral SIR William Hannam Henderson, K.B.E., Royal Navy (20 June, 1845 – 29 April, 1931) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Henderson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 11 September, 1866.[1]
Henderson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1879.[2]
Henderson was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1 January, 1886.[3]
Henderson succeeded Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas S. Jackson as Admiral Superintendent of Devonport Dockyard on 11 July, 1902.[4] He was succeeded by Rear-Admiral Charles J. Barlow on 1 April, 1906.[5]
Henderson was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 27 November, 1904, vice Pattisson.[6]
Henderson was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 30 June, 1908, vice Pearson.[7] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, he was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 2 July.[8]
On the occasion of the King's birthday he was appointed a Knight Commander of the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) on 3 June, 1924.[9]
