H.M.S. Avoca was a commercial liner converted for use as an Armed Merchant Cruiser in the Royal Navy. She was originally named Avon.
Service
Avoca served primarily on the western seaboard of the Americas during the Great War. On 1 June, 1916, Sir Ernest Shackleton visited her.[5]

She was armed with:[6]

- two 6-pdrs
