Alexander Farrington

Vice-Admiral (retired) Alexander Farrington, C.M.G. (15 April, 1869 – 8 December, 1933) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Farrington gained two months' time on passing out of Britannia in July 1884.

Farrington was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1892.

Farrington was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1903.

On 1 July, 1908, Farrington was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Latona.

Farrington was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1910.

Farrington was appointed in command of the armoured cruiser Cochrane in December, 1916.

Post-War

On 28 February, 1919, he was appointed Captain Superintendent at Invergordon Dockyard, eventually moving to battleship Mars, becoming Senior Naval Officer aboard.

Farrington was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 18 June, 1921 and placed on the Retired List the following day at his own request.

Farrington was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 8 July, 1926.
