S.M.S. D 6 was one of two D 5 Class divisional torpedo boats completed for the Imperial German Navy.
Construction
D 6 was launched on 9 February, 1889.[8]
Service
D 6 commissioned on 28 June, 1889 and served as a flagship in torpedo and minesweeper flotillas until 1915. She was modernized at Schichau's Elbing yard in 1904, receiving two Marine-type boilers. After the outbreak of war she became a patrol flotilla vessel in 1915 and a submarine training vessel in 1916. D 6 was stricken on 7 December, 1920 and broken up in 1921.[9]
