H.M.S. Assistance was a civilian ship purchased on the stocks on 19 September, 1900 for use as a fleet repair ship.
Service
She commissioned at Gibraltar on 28 November, 1906.[6]
Assistance served with the Grand Fleet at Scapa and Cromarty throughout the war.[7]
