Henry Douglas Wilkin
Vice-Admiral (retired) Henry Douglas Wilkin, C.B.E., D.S.O., R.N. (27 March, 1862 – 8 January, 1931) was an officer in the Royal Navy
Life & Career
Wilkin was born in Umbala, India.[1]
Wilkin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1886.[2]
Wilkin was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1900.[3]
Wilkin was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1907.[4]
He was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Edgar on 27 June, 1908.[5]
On 28 October 1909, he was appointed in command of the armoured cruiser Antrim. He would be superseded on 11 December, 1912 and placed on the Retired List at his own request on 9 August, 1913.[6]
Great War
Though retired, Wilkin was made Senior Naval Officer, Belfast on 24 February, 1915 and initially placed in command of Auxiliary Patrol vessels there. He'd be promoted to Rear-Admiral and reappointed in October 1918, destined to remain in Belfast until reverting to the retired list on 1 June, 1919.[7]
He was further promoted to Vice-Admiral on 19 July, 1924.[8]
