Cecil Dacre Staveley Raikes
Vice-Admiral Cecil Dacre Staveley Raikes, C.B.E., Royal Navy, Retired (29 May, 1874 – 15 February, 1947) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.
Life & Career
Raikes was advanced tothe rank of Captain on 31 December, 1913.[1]
On 27 January 1914, he was appointed in command of the depot ship St. George.[2]
On 20 June 1916, he was appointed in command of the elderly second class protected cruiser Minerva.[3]
He was made Commodore, 2nd Class as Chief of Staff to Admiral Tupper, Commander-in-Chief, Western Approaches in Colleen (ex-Royalist) on 1 June, 1919.[4]
Raikes commanded Ramillies for 18 months, commencing in January 1921.[5]
Raikes was appointed a Commander of the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) on 1 January, 1923.[6]
Raikes was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 30 June, 1924, vice Richard Webb. He was placed on the Retired List the following day.[7]
