Cornelius Marius Schoonmaker (2 February, 1839 – 16 March, 1889) served in the United States Navy.
Life & Career
Schoonmaker was promoted to the rank of Midshipman on 9 June, 1859.[1]
Schoonmaker was promoted to the rank of Master on 23 February, 1861, followed a few months later by his commissioning as a Lieutenant on 31 August, 1861.[2]
Schoonmaker was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander on 24 December, 1865.[3]
Schoonmaker was promoted to the rank of Commander on 14 February, 1873.[4]
Schoonmaker was promoted to the rank of Captain on 7 October, 1886.[5]
Schoonmaker was killed when the Vandalia was wrecked in the hurricane that struck Samoa on 15/16 March, 1889.
