Charles Joseph Bonaparte (9 June, 1851 – 28 June, 1921) served as the thirty-seventh Secretary of the Navy from 1905 through 1906.
Life & Career
Charles Bonaparte was born in Baltimore on 9 June, 1851. He was a descendent of Jérôme Bonaparte, youngest brother of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.
Bonaparte replaced disgraced former railroad vice president Paul Morton on 1 July, 1905, and remained Secretary of the Navy until becoming United States Attorney General on 17 December, 1906.
